Brookland’s public schools carry the next generation of leaders and changemakers.

With our support they will go far.

What is CARE Brookland?

Brookland has a rich history of Black excellence, academic leadership, and artistic expression, alongside small businesses and community institutions built by Latine families. Over time, the neighborhood has grown more diverse; however, schools deeply rooted in the community’s culture are too often left behind as new schools emerge.

To ensure equity across the neighborhood, CARE Brookland supports five schools with deep community ties and a legacy of strength, creativity, and innovation. We are guided by the belief that all schools and students, regardless of background, deserve to be valued, resourced, and treated with dignity and fairness.

Our Movement is City-wide

CARE Brookland a part of the CARE DC network, a larger District-wide movement. We believe we are stronger together. Our collective power is vital to the fight for quality public education.

Just like the Consolidated Parent Group that fought for the right for integrated schools in D.C., we understand that community engagement is vital for student support.
